While Five Ways of Being was originally targeted towards audiences in the education field, the revisited and expanded ideas presented in this series are suitable for leaders in any field of endeavour, whether it be corporate, educational, private or government sectors: indeed, any leader who wishes to gain greater confidence and increase their personal and professional impact.
Like many contemporary thinkers on leadership, we think there has been too much focus on the ‘doing’ of leadership, that is, the ‘work’ we have to do, and what might be called the tyranny of the urgent – rather than who we are when we are doing the work.
The workshops in the 'Beyond Five Ways of Being' series offer an alternative way of seeing and being as leaders – one which celebrates and recognises our essential humanity while also requiring a commitment to excellence in all its forms.
What do we mean by a ‘way of being’? Well, it’s how we typically show up as a leader and what we then embody in our thoughts, behaviours, actions, non-verbals and words.
Each workshop focuses on an aspect of leadership, or what might be called a ‘disposition’, that truly great leaders need to cultivate and embody, and that then becomes a ‘way of being’ for them.
